The world is in awe of your courage and adventure. You are truly an inspiration to us all.A true blue dinkum aussie. Its great to be able to follow you along.Congrats Jess.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! To you Jessica, to your Mum & Dad and to all your support team. You have dared to dream and they have dared to encourage and support the pursuit of what, to so many, seemed too big a dream. All unbelievably inspirational!! Isn't it amazing how quiet the dream stealers are now!? Love you lass, keep it up.
I am absolutely impressed Jessica! You are an inspiring lady, at such a young age. I have been following your blog from the beginning, and so excited to share your journey, and this most exciting and important milestone... rounding the Cape. Keep going strong with the wind in your sale.
Looks like my yesterday's posts got lost in cyberspace and I'm not sure I remember everything I said but I know I can't stop smiling, am in awe, and am very proud of you. Congratulations on this big leg of your journey Jesse.
Absolutely fantastic. God bless you Jess. Following your progress every day and really thrilled by your achievement. Keep your spirit up as you head towards the Cape of Good Hope !
Howdy Jess, Alas Land Oh...there be Cape Horn in your sights....
I Reckon the 4th Picture is the best, you couldn't get a more contented expression of achievement on anyone's face like you can see on your face right now....beautiful self portrait Jesse!....really terrific
Clint - Melbourne. The Bottle of PINK was thoroughly enjoyed by all...mostly me!
Hi Jesse - well, as promised, I raised the flag last night and Jess's photograph was perched on top of the flagpole. We (Hawkeye and 6 surfing buddies) sang Waltz Sing Matilda very load to my rather discordant trumpet accompaniment - the neighbours assessed it as atrocious, musical vandalism, they said. Nevertheless, they forgave us because they too are devotees of Jesse. We had a great Aussie night with a few Crown Lagers to boot. See what you are doing to us Jesse; turning some of us at least into mid-week revelers.
I am over the Moon for you darl and you deserve so many accolades - you are a beautiful girl; an inspirational ambassador for the youth of Australia and afar. I hope you have by now soaked most of it in as you need to get the mind back on the job. The conditions have been tough for you and getting around the Cape would not have been plain sailing although when I listen to what you have to say, you are so calm about it all. But I'm sure there are often butterfly's in the tummy. And that's good because it's a sign of knowledge of your vulnerability.
'til next time Jesse I do hope you are back on the job, think safety first, get those small goals out now and plod away as you have been doing and it will continue to come together nicely as has been the case so far. Take care precious one and God bless. I just love the person you are.
Great work Jess, congrats I hope you got to see your Mum and Dad through all the drizzel and clouds and also the other visitors as well, Keep up the good work stay safe, god bless and good sailing. Greg, Townsville.
woot woot.... awesome Jess, thanks for sharing this wonderful moment :) On hols in Warrnambool atm and stood on the beach looking out to the ocean, thinking of you and trying to get a feel for what it would be like being surrounded by nothing but water... :) Admittedly a flowing river with shady trees is more my cup of tee LOL
What an achievement, you fantastic Aussie girl!! Thank's for the amazing photo's you've been able to take when you had your hands full with the rough sea. The one with the Cape in the mist must have been very special for you. The same for a person who has been in the desert for a long time and sees an oasis ahead. Keep your inspiration and sail on safe on the deserts of the seas. Good on you Jessica.
You rock Jess, you are an inspiration to any young person with a dream, you have sent such a positive message to my 13 year old daughter that she can do anything. Stay safe and we are enjoying following your progress and dream xxxx Leeanne and Montana Bendigo Vic

FANTASTIQUE! TRIPELA SAMTING YU WOKIM PINIS YIA! CONGRATULATIONS from us Papua New Guinean-types travelling in Europe. Truly wonderful news. Continue, continue!!!
Amazing, fantastic etc. etc. they are all valid.........
I hope your keeping a diary of your inner voyage too...... that is the Everest; I look forward to you writing about that journey, your inspiration, pressure, lust and what maintained it, what your learnings about yourself have been. There will be time for reflection but for the moment whatever your drivers you are a remarkable young woman, correct that, a remarkable person full stop. I wish you a safe journey now and for the rest of your time.... with much respect Chris
Fantastic Jess, you are amazing and well done on getting around the Cape. Hope you have a good sighting of your Mum and Dad. Go Girl!! Regards Mary, Ash & Luke
Hi Jessica I have just looked at the two videos – JW sees Land! and JW rounds the Horn - and seen what the sea condition was like, how it sounded inside and outside the cabin of Ella’s Pink Lady and how extremely excited you sound, especially in the video of rounding the Cape. That’s a great WOW that you let out! Now we really can appreciate just how well set up your beautiful pink boat really is.
I’m really glad to see and hear you obviously enjoying these moments and I can sense how very special and of great significance they are to you in your voyage.
Continue having the “time of your life”. You are giving us a wonderful time riding along with you. Thank You. Tony L (Mt Martha VIC)
Hello Jessica. Grandma Viv from New Zealand here. Congrats on all you have done so far, BUT the BIGGEST congrats for rounding Cape Horn. WOW WOW WOW and again I say WOW. This is all to hard to put in to words for me. WOW. I will be still watching you, to see how you are getting on, as you make your way back to Aussie. Take Care. LOVE from Grandma Viv Auckland New Zealand. xxoo Grandmas always have hugs and kisses to give away. xxoo
Hi Jessica, Well the Cape was a good one to tick off your list!!Its not how you start but how you finish in life that counts. I feel that you know that in sailing to finish first you must first finish. So take charge and be conservative when you feel that, that is whats required and agressive when you know you can be.You have a great feel for ELP now so please stay safe and enjoy each moment knowing that we are all with you in our daily and nightly prayers. To Samurai THANK YOU for your great Picture- It was great and very fitting. Michael.Thank you for your kind words and Belated Birthday Congratulations to you May you experience many more!!

Well well Jess, It's been such a long day for me at work. 12hr shift & all I wanted to do was come home & read the blogs.
I think the highlight for me though is seeing that "faraway dreamy look" in your eyes in that gorgeous photo of you. I see satisfaction & a little bit of disbelief at your accomplishment, but you did it.
Well done little one, now you can have some chocolate! xxoo
Jessica, We are so proud of your achievements from Sydney to passing Cape Horn and trust that you feel the warmth and encouragement of all your supporters as you go through the hours, days and weeks leading up to the accomplishment of your objective. We now know you can and will achieve your goal. Bob C Sydney Australia
captain jesse, the 385 comments already registered says it all. again well done young chocoholic. i look forward to our next goal in your epic adventure. regards rod blackbutt qld
Jessica, I just stumbled upon your 2 latest video clips. Awesome, to hear your happy squeals of delight makes me giggle too. You look the happiest I have ever seen you! Your eyes sparkle and you look so alive with excitement and joy! And wouldn't everybody after such an accomplishment! You are a marvel! Sail safe Captain Watson, Trudy, Austria/Australia
Sorry my congratulations have been slow getting to you but the post I did this morning Thurs 14th 8.18am hasn't made it onto the site.
I think your shore crew has just been smothered with well wishers trying to post and must be getting less sleep than you trying to keep up with your fan mail.
The site was so busy this morning it was hard to get the page to open and the website may have even crashed for a while because the posts from 2.14am 14th until 8.41am 14th haven't appeared on the site in the comment section of your Wed 13th post "Jessica rounds Cape Horn!".
Following is the post I made and I'd like you to see it because I have news about your mentor Don McIntyre talking about you on TV's Today Show this morning.
8.18am post I just want to give you a quick congratulations on achieving the biggest challenge.
I actually had trouble getting onto the website because so many were waiting for the news.
I was up last night until I had heard you got through the passage and when the news came I got all emotional. probably because I have been following the blogs each day and reading just how much impact you are having on so many people.
You can now tick off one more on your to do list and it must be so nice to be now fronting the challenges of a new ocean.
I'm watching the today show as I'm writing this and they have your friend Don McIntyre on who is showering you with praise of what you have achieved so far and has no doubt you will finish this voyage. he's also impressed with your ability saying that Jessica Watson is what you call a real sailor and how you have managed to silence all of the critics you had in the early days.
He is also saying how impressed he is of how you are keeping on top of your boats maintenance, that you are taking such good care of yourself and that you are about 10%ahead of schedule.
He's also saying how good of a job you are doing of keeping us all informed about your voyage on the blog and the clever wording you use that makes the reader feel like they're with you.
You have obviously impressed this man and made him very proud of what you're doing and they way you are going about it.
You have done the same with everyone who visits your website and all the loyal bloggers.
If there ever comes a time when you need inspiration to finish this voyage you only need to read some of the bloggers comments or get on the phone to Don.
You go Jessica because you've made the World sit up and take notice of what can be achieved by someone your age with the rare mix of confidence, knowledge and ability that you have.
Have fair winds and seas to bring you home soon.
It's going to be a big day when you come home to Queensland. we're all very proud of you.
You have passed the major test - the Mt Everest of sailing. From what I have read over the last 60 years or so the Cape of Good Hope is a comparative piece of cake so it could be almost all downhill from here.
And you are closing on the half-way mark through your challenge as well!
I join all your supporters around the world in praising your talents as a sailor, writer and photographer - oh! and chocolate cup-cake maker in motion.
You are a truly amazing young lady and a great credit to your family and the team of great folk who are supporting your effort.
My only problem is - what will I have to focus on once you get back to Sydney. Another lap? Not right away I would think.
Sincere and joyful congratulations from 25 minutes due west of Noosa on your wonderful achievement so far. May good luck and fair winds continue to accompany you.
Gee Jess, all the Non-Believers are changing their tune..............you have ten times as much support now so keep smiling and bring it home !! BB from Qld
Congratulations Jessica! It seems like I've been checking every hour for the last two days, for news of you rounding the Cape. Thank you for sharing this experience with us and for being such an inspiration to the world! I think the Cape was even more exciting, shrouded in a mystical mist. I hope you celebrated with lots of well-deserved chocolate!
From Eindhoven, the Netherlands, congrats on reaching this milestone ! We will drink an extra toast on you and your amazing voyage. Safe and fun voyage home back to Ozzi land!
CONGRATULATIONS on the Cape!! Fantastic effort by you - loved your photos and am glad you actually saw this bit of mythical land. Very very envoius and full of admiration for you, and all your helpers and assistants.
Keep up the great work, photos and sending us your thoughts on such an inspirational voyage by such an inspirational person. I agree with the ariticle in NZ Boating that I read today that you are 16 going on 26. Your comments certainly show a degree of level headedness and maturity that you can be proud of.
Hppe things get better as you head north a bit, and hope your heater is working again. May you continue to have fair winds, albatross, and dolphins to accompany you on this voyage.
Oh my goodness Jesse, I just watched your two Cape Horn videos and I have to say for the first time, YOU SEEMED ALMOST LOST FOR WORDS FOR A MINUTE LOL!!! The emotions you must have been feeling really showed through and it did my heart good as I watched and listened to you describe what you were seeing and feeling!! You are a star Jessica Watson!! I can see your face is filled with joy at what you have accomplished so far. I hope it doesn't get too rough for you out there. Enjoy and take care 'til next time. xo Jo Sydney
Congrats. You've rounded the big one. Love following you blogs every day. Your photos are awesome. God be with you. Would love to know what speed you surf at in the strong winds. If you get a chance let us know. Thanks. Dave - Gympie Qld
CONGRATULATIONS Jess Did the cloud cover lift so that you could see da plane with mum and dad what a great moment for you all to be able to share just a little down hill run now to home soil Safe sailing. Hope you had a special treat hidden in the boat for this special occasion Julie
Hi Jesse, As I studied your great pictures of the Cape the only thing I noticed was your hair!! On a scale of 0 to 10 I would give your Do a 6 which is really good considering you were sailing in 40 knot winds. I'm just joshing with you Jesse!! You took the first prize in the beauty contest. Of course you were the only contestant.(There I go again LOL) The Cape looks like a nice place to pass by but I wouldn't want to live there. Now we can set our sights on the next major highlight possibly Cape Hope. Sail sail Jessica Watson and my God speed!! Your long distant friend Larry (guamgranite@myfairpoint.net)
Hey Jesse, I just got back from holidaying in Apollo Bay Vic. Once I got back home I couldnt wait to see if you had rounded the Horn and you have so congrats on your major mile stone. Also while at Apollo Bay I saw a yacht out on the water which looked rather small and reminded me of you sailing round that big ol world of ours. Anyhow I admire the dream you have and your courage and determination in attempting to achieve an amazing feat, you truly are an inspiration and I wish you all the best in reaching your next goal. Good luck thanks for the pics and best wishes.
Well done Jessica. You are truly amazing. Buggered if I would be out there alone. You are an inspiration to everyone. I am so pleased I follow your progress every day. God Bless and Sail Safe
Jesse, thanks for the fantastic pics, well done, so proud of you - enjoy your rest over the next few days (once you are in a quieter zone), you certainly deserve it.
Looking forward to hearing about the navies and M&D fly over when you come up for air....x
You've conquered the Everest of Sailing and that's one huge milestone...the Cape, it's so awe-inspiring...enjoy and "soak" in every moment of it while it lasts...i'm sure u'll look forward to returning to Cape Horn again (albeit by plane the next time round)...
Looking forward and all the very best in ur next lap of the journey: to The Cape of Good Hope...meanwhile, u deserve a lil break young lady.... ;)
~gIgGz~
P/S To EPL: WAY TO GO GAL!! We can surely count on ya!!
Seeing that infamous and dark Cape, trying to hide in the mist, as you defeated his gales and currents...
Seeing your sparkling half-smile, looking like a lioness just having had a juicy Horn prime rib
How about the Navy and Air Force show? With this capy weather, could you see each other, wave and talk on the VHF?
Everyone, everywhere, is so excited. Reading your blog's comments sprays ecstasy around. Your shore team has been doing an extraordinary job, from the very beginning, and certainly even before; and I can guess that they are as excited as all your followers. You know, it must be absolutely thrilling to be part a team working for such a stupendous leading lady.
The idea I read some place above in the comments, that your arrival day should be public holiday, seems a very good one to me. I would even go further, why not making it later an annual celebration day like "achievement day" or "living your dreams day", or "dare day", some symbolic way to encourage people to LIVE their life instead of watching it go by, floating like a cork in the stream.
Though you have still more than half of the job to complete with several milestones (10,000, 15,000, 20,000 nm, the hardly predictable South Atlantic, the Good Hope and Agulhas capes, the treacherous and formidable Southern Ocean again, the Cape Leeuwin... Much work, many obstacles to overcome: but after all, that's the reason why you and EPL are there, isn't it?
It is going to look long for you, very long for your parents, but your adopted family will selfishly enjoy supporting you, watching you, worrying for you, and most of all, applause you and wonder. When you will be back in Aussie, you will be overwhelmed! And we shall remain lonely and locked in our land homes, like EPF will be chained in Mooloolaba, somehow derelicted. What will our lives become, without you, without our vicarious adventure? ;-)
A meteorological forecast for Don: On your arrival day, for NSW, a large rainbow will occur, caused by thousands of shining smiles and floods of tears. A big hugsnami is to be feared on the wake of the rainbow.
I guess you are going to head North and make a gracious curve through softer latitudes, before diving South East to round Africa. Wishing you fair winds and a tremendous atlantic sailing, I salute a very, very great sailor, and an exceptional person.
lovely to see you're still smiling! I pop in and have a look in to check your progress and you are still very cheery and excited about your journey. Awesome. I'm doing laundry and cooking, you're not missing much!
Jesse, You have just made Maritime History and joined the ranks of the brave few sailors as the youngest member of the "Cape Horners Club".
'Congratulations' - so small a word that does not do justice to your amazing achievement, for one so young in age, but imbued with a passion.
You may not yet realize the impact you are having worldwide, as thousands, perhaps millions of people follow your voyage each day, projecting themselves out there into your world, - braving the heat and cold, the gales, rough seas and solitude,-there in the cockpit beside you.
Like me they are inspired by the wonder of your great adventure.
When I met and spoke with you on Ellas Pink Lady last year at the Sydney Boatshow, you conveyed an impression of determination and commitment to achieving your dream.
"Rounding the Horn" is an exceptional experience and achievement in Navigation and seamanship-you do yourself proud.
Way to go Sailor Girlie! I raised a size large Foster's to you and your Pink Lady. The pictures are beautiful. Especially the one of you, looking on in awe. Whee! I can't wait for the "halfway there" party. Continued blessings, Molly Maryland USA
Love the pics - fantastic record of a memorable day! Thank you Jess and I join with Sam thanking your superb blog master - Andrew. Well done indeed! Also I think that Sam's graphic would make an excellent book cover?? What do you think Jess?? Stay safe and God speed Jess Brissie fan
I'm really trying not to post more than twice!!!...*coughs into hand*
Hey RJ (post 487)...what a an amazing little poem, I thought you had written it then I realized it was Sara Vial...and what's really amazing it that its inscribed at a memorial at Cape Horn...
This kind of poetry I admire very much...in fact anything that gives me goose bumps I usually appreciate, like a good drop of old Port...it'll always do it!
It also happens when you get young brave souls out at sea risking there lives and rounding Cape Horn all at the same time....now who was that I wonder?
Cya
Clint - Dandenong, just out of interest, I make you 9.350 Kilometers almost due South of me, great circle track, isn't Google Earth a cool bit of programming!
Great sailing, great writing, great photography and great humility .... you're amazing - and so much of your life still ahead! Best Wishes from Coolum!
what an emotional rollercoaster ride you have given us. We've been touched in sooo many ways. Pride, elation, fear, joy, nervousness, hope, happiness...the list goes on. No movie has moved ME sooo much as your journey to date and I'm bit of a hard nut. The mere fact that we are living your epic journey thru you words, your eyes and the pictures you so vividly paint with every blog/ video you send, puts us right there in the cockpit of EPL. WE ARE LITERALLY LIVING YOU DREAM!! Thankyou x3
Now the South Atlantic awaits with more milestones to achieve and further trials and tribulations, highs and lows. I know the words of love and encouragement from Mum and Dad would have put the fire back in the belly and their departing may have dimmed the glow ever so slightly, but, as another blogger put it..."this too shall pass". It's time to exchange hats young Jesse and refocus on the task ahead. Know that we the family of bloggers are faithfully there with you...with this young adventurer who dared to sail aound the world.
Kudos to Mum, Dad and the entire support team. Please continue to guide Jesse safely on this history making voyage.
Finally, your last video, "Jessica Watson Rounds Cape Horn". There were sooo many positives to take from it. But mostly I could sense, feel, hear and almost touch the exuberance you were obviously feeling cos I too was totally on that emotional rollercoaster as I'm sure we all were. As you sooo succinctly put it...WOW!!
Sail on safely young skipper and as always, be safe and always secured to your trusted 1st mate EPL.
Btw, keep up that infectious smile ...and that's an order..ok! he he
Hi Jesse! Wow congratulations!!!! I'm so so proud of you (& so glad you're safe!). Cape Horn is such an awesome amazing achivement! You rock!! The pics are great, it looks mysterious...I hope your parents were able to see you :-) Every time I think of you I'm inspired. I've been reading your blog every day since before you left the sunny coast so long ago, I guess I've been a bit shy to post til now. You always make us feel like we're there too. Keep living the dream & good luck & God bless for the next part.
Thanks for the photos. You look good all bundled up cozy and warm. Look forward to seeing you in warmer climes soon. I'm sure you will enjoy the warm weather and calmer sailing. All the best. Arnie in Canada. (A warm minus 5C this AM.)
Hi Captain Jesse, Your smile says it all....... "I've conquered the Everest of ocean sailing and I'm off to my next leg,the Cape of Good Hope." You should be feeling really good about yourself.Four and five meter seas 40+ winds, the cold, and holding on to EPL in way to bouncy seas...AMAZING! Stay Happy!Round Up To A Warmer Climate! Sing Really Loud! Stay Focused! Godspeed!
Well done Jesse, you are doing just great. What an achievement! You're a member of a small but elite club now! You are in our thoughts every day. Stay safe, Joanne Darwin NT
You have certainly caused a stir on this blog-site Jessica - what used to be a reasonably easily read site has turned into a major reading activity now taking hours just skimming through all the new blogs. The old regulars are still posting and give us much amusement. Loved Samurai's artwork - how fabulous.
Thank you for the joys and thrills of being part of your adventure. We will all be here again tomorrow I'm sure. How ever do you read all this?
Congratulations Jesse, I just viewed your videos, how special is that !! Wow !! Fantastic ! I am so glad you viewed the Cape in all his glory, the "mystical" view of misty skies around him, wind and stormy looking seas, its exactly how nature would have it...!!
I gotta tell ya Jesse, I saw those 3mtr seas and I shudder to think of the 5mtr seas you tackled getting there. Phewww.. .Truly spectacular footage. Made for a very awe-inspiring look at what you have achieved, just amazing. Thanks so much for taking me with you. Cheers.
You are truly an amazing young lady! You set your sites and you achieve them. You will go as far in life as you choose. Great pictures and video. Thanks for taking us all along. God bless, duane
I knew all along you could do it. You have the eye of the tiger.
A quote for you: "A constant struggle, a ceaseless battle to bring success from inhospitable surroundings, is the price of all great achievements" - Orison Swett Marden
Hi Jesse, Fantastic what you did so far, the way you do it and your spirit and endurance! Thank you for your videos, gives really good impression what you are in. Felt like being on board with you surfing along. Got a little kind of home sick not being sailing. So I have to go sailing as soon as possible. Thank You! All the best Peter from Austria
Just saw your new Cape Horn videos and there was also a feature story on Sydney channel ten about you and Ella's Pink Lady rounding of Cape Horn.
Cape Horn looks pretty spooky to me with those dark low clouds and 40 knot winds and that gloomy silvery grey ocean.
Just as well some Albatrosses were still brave enough to fly in those conditions.
Visibility does not look too good to me in your pictures,so I wonder how your Mum and Dad went.Maybe it was safer to stay on shore, because 40 knots is a pretty bumpy ride in a small aircraft.
Great going Jessica, you are probably looking forward to some warmer regions now as you head further north it should get warmer pretty quick.
I noticed your next destination,Cape Hope in South Africa is latitude 37 south, almost the same as Melbourne Australia where they had 39˚C last week, very hot.
But you know Melbourne Jesse,4 seasons in one day as we say here in Sydney. Our Temps are around 25˚-30˚C at the moment, we had quite a bit of rain in Sydney lately and its been completely overcast with the occational thunderstorms coming through from the south.
Wow,I can't believe it happened already, you rounded the Cape Horn, you must be so proud of yourself.
Did you treat yourself to some special chocolate, put on some music and have a little celebration dance ?
Or is Ella's Pink Lady keeping you too busy for all that in those icy southern waters ?
Thanks for your great Cape Horn pictures and videos Jesse, you are just such an amazing girl.I like that Picture of you very much it tells the story of a true champion.
keep safe and god bless you Jessica,
gustav haffner navigator-pilot www.redbaron.com.au/adventures
I'm 71 years old, Jesse, and I've lived a mildly adventursome life.
But your triumph tops anything I have ever known, and the emotional impact of it is far beyond all my expectations. I can see that this may be true for other bloggers as well.
Rounding Cape Horn--fantastic.
Sharing in your excitement, experiencing the beating of your heart as you guide EPL through that passage--beyond priceless. --transcendent--
You are alone on your boat, Jessica, but today I think that you're the most loved person on the planet.
I can't imagine the excitement you feel, but I imagine you will have somewhat of a let down after getting past the Horn. Blessings on you and I hope you will be able to fix the heater, I am worried about you getting cold. Am praying for your safety and for your spirits to be up. God bless you Jessica.
Hi Jess, Did the seas give you enough time to have a rest last night? I hope so. Your page has been very busy today with everyone wanting to congratulate you on your fantastic achievement. There has been a lot of coverage today in the press so I think that explains the extra visitors. I hope they stick around to see you complete this fantastic journey. Anyway I have a lot of reading to do tonight to catch up on everyones comments and I look forward to reading your discription of yesterday. Oh you were just on the news showed video of you rounding the horn. Love your big smile. Well have a rest, take it easy, stay safe and hooked on. Tim and Rosie Caboolture Ha ha My verification word is restin.
Awesome Jesse, what a milestone you just accomplished today. Great pictures, Jesse! You have just proven to be a Great skipper, way to go. I know it is cold, give us a Big smile next time. God Bless you Jesse and safe sailing.
What a girl !And what a wonderful moment it must have been -Congratulations dear Jessica ! Having sailed that area in a much larger ship - a research ship - I must confess I had been worried about you... What wonderful pictures! On to Cape of Good Hope now , a very "mythical" place for us Portuguese, actually. As you know we are all around the world sailing with you and so happy for you! Godspeed, dearest Jessica! Adelia Faro-Portugal
Congratulations on rounding Cape Horn! In a time where all we hear is bad news from around the world, here is this little girl from Austrlia taking on the world and conquering it and making us all feel good about ourselves! You are proof there is goodness and kindness on this planet! The first thing I do every morning is get a cup of coffee and head to the computer to check on you and, everyday, because of you and your accomplishments, I start my day with a smile (I also worry about you and want to make sure you are safe and sound). Keep pressing on towards your goal as you are now halfway to the finisih line. You can do it girl!
Congratulations also to your Mum Dad family & extended Team - you all deserve the accolades.
As promised when you rounded Kiribati - you earned your 1st Captains Bar on your Epaulette, the second is for rounding safely "Cape Horn" - I promise the 3rd as you round the "Cape of Good Hope" Well earned.
Like your thousands of followers - I watch you daily and wish you on your journey with whatever winds we can blow for you - Gods speed and safe sailing.
Our Congratulations to you Jessica, and to all your support team too, and what great pictures! You deserve all the congratulations and well wishes that come your way. Everyone's prayers for your safety in achieving this next milestone have been answered and we now pray that you can continue to stay safe and well and ahead of schedule, to be successful also in completing the adventure in the way you always intended.
Though this is only our second message, we have continued to look out for and follow every posting you have put up. What a wonderful book you will be able to put together from all these experiences you are having from day to day. It will be a book that the readers will not be able to put down once they start. Keep up the good work--you can be so proud.
Well aren't you a clever girl. Just saw your video and it brought tears to my eyes. Thankyou for sharing this very special moment with us and it was special to see the cape at its best roaring winds and nasty seas. Thankyou, thankyou thankyou. I'm going to go and have another look and see if i can see that ship!!! Did I say Thanks Well thanks Jess Tim and Rosie Caboolture P.S. Can't wait to show Rosie all the photo's and video footage.
You little bloody ripper!!! Mate, that is an absolutely awesome effort and thanks for the pics - they're fab. After three months without seeing land and despite all your onboard navigation and tracking systems I bet it was still very reassuring to see that hunk of rock appear port side right where it was supposed to be !!
As your journey continues along it's merry way there is a sound that keeps getting louder. It's the sound of all your critics eating humble pie.
I hope the winds keep singing in your rigging and you'll be back home before you know it.
Love the pictures but I am amazed with all the things you were dealing with you had the time to take them!
Hope the fly over and Navy visit went well.
I am glad the Cape was a challenge and I am sure you are as well. But I am thrilled that you handled it with the skill and determination that you have shown all along.
You are soooooo cool Jessie. What an experience ! You have to know I have so much respect for you and your parents. I look forward every day to reading your blog and seeing your pics and videos. Of course I'm only one of probably millions but regardless, your in my daily prayers and I wish you a speedy safe 2nd half of your adventure. Only one problem, what do you do to top this one? WIth much admiration, Bob from San Diego
Oh Jessica..I just watched your videos rounding Cape Horn. I don't think I've seen a bigger smile on anyone's face!! You are right...it is amazing! I think I'm having a hard time talking right now.....WOW
I get sea sick just looking at the pics Jess! I don't know how you do this! Thanks so much for the pics though, I find them very interesting. Congratulations again!! LFR in the USA
Felicitaciones! conquistaste el Cabo de Hornos! Asombroso. Una gran victoria. Eres la mejor! los horizontes te pertenecen ahora, sigue adelante y buenos vientos para ti. Excelentes fotos. Estamos contigo Capitán Jessica Watson.
Congratulations! Cape Horn conquered! Amazing. A great victory. You're the best! horizons belong to you now, go ahead and good winds for you. Excellent photos. We're with you captain Jessica Watson.
Ok ok ok...I know this my Third Post in just so many minutes but I've just watched your two Video's and more than twice!...I piped them through my TW2000 Theater projector for the Bigger Screen Experience....
WOW and WOW again!!!...Jesse it was soooo cool soooo wonderful to see and hear your raw emotion coming through, I have often felt in previous videos that you have held yourself back a little, I maybe wrong and honestly it doesn't really matter, your character, mannerisms and candour are what make you the young women you are the way you handled yourself on Video the level of maturity is truly unique....but that's not to say you wouldn't Party if you wanted to!...just wait until you get back missy!
Cheers you wonderful girl you!
Clint - somewhere in time and space....
Oh by the way, I heard Andrew (Blogmaster Andrew I assume) on 774ABC main News this morning and being repeated throughout the afternoon on ABC News Radio, I watched the 5:00 o'clock Channel 10 News and they had nothing!....we then watched Channel 7 News and they had nothing!....ABC1 News at 7:00...didn't have anything!!!!....that leaves Channel 9 News which I didn't see, but apart from the Radio Coverage the TV coverage here in Melbourne was zippo!....very disappointing.
The SkyNews Channel was reporting on you...which was good, they interviewed Don McIntyre and he was clearly wrapped in your progress....
Charles Wooly's prediction that Australians would fall in love with you has come well in truly true...but he didn't mention the World wide love and affection that world come pouring through....
Jessica when you left Sydney you were a young girl in a small sailing boat. Now you are life, hope and dreams for people all around the Planet Earth. It is great and wonderful feeling to know that you have the "right stuff" to make it happen. Thank you for creating history and making your passion for the sea a wild adventure ride for all of us to share, feel part of and follow.
How exciting!! Now on to the next cape. As you approach the three month mark, it must be great to finally see some land other than an island! I hope that the weather cooperated for your parents flyover. Take care and smooth sailing.
Jess Cape Horn...Cabo de Hornos (in Spanish)...the very end of the World...ever since I remember these words resounded deeply in my soul...now you have given it a truly unique dimension, you have made this legend a little closer to me...I will go there someday. The pictures are again so dynamic!!!
Your journey is a tribute to Life...which can be so fragile at times, I mourn for the tragedy in Haiti...
Now you go for Cape of Good Hope...Cabo de Buena Esperanza...old tales of Portuguese sailor-discoverers come to mind...
We are all with you Jess, go, sail safe, thank you, I can say no more!
Way to go! I'm so excited for you. I know your Mom was probably in tears...just getting a glips at you (or should I say the boat). Keep up the good work.
Congratulations Jessica!! Such an amazing journey so far and I hope you achieve your dreams. Such crazy swells and waves. Gorgeous albatross and images of the sky. I thought I'd write a poem dedicated to you...
Jessica Watson and her Pink Lady, working tandomly as a team, on their quest to conquer wild seas and vast oceans, they are living their glorious dream.
Some days are windy and chilly, some days are sunny and easy. Some days are misty and frosty, some days are blissful and perfect.
But rounding Cape Horn, and knowing you're on your way, is just like the little pieces of sunshine, that we all need on tough days.
It must feel great to wake up and smell fresh sea breeze, see the beautiful sunrises and sunset, the swift albatrosses and the stark blueness of the sea.
Way to go! I'm so excited for you. I know your Mom had to be happy to catch a glips of you or even just the boat. As a mom I would have been in tears from all the excitement. I know she must really miss you.
In one or two previous comments I wrote, many blogs ago, I used the phrase "STEELY DETERMINATION" in describing your dealing with the challenges that were forthcoming in your voyage.
I saw again this character trait when you posted the four pictures in "Pictures of the Cape!" and this steely determination was all over your face (4th picture) coupled with a look of almost serene contentment in where you were and what you were doing at that moment.
I just finished watching the two videos of rounding Cape Horn (thanks shore team for posting so quickly) and was so touched to watch this determination punctuated by nothing other than a girlish giggle of sheer exhilaration at the moment you were experiencing.
The two videos reveal so much about your inner self and character and should erase forever any feelings of surprise by anyone (the naysayers) that you have accomplished this monumental goal.
Congrats Jessica - What a trip- up to the equator & rounding Cape Horn & homeward bound - showing the world your true blue Aussi grit. You go gal. Cheers. Nx Brisbane. Oz
Woweeeee!! congratulations to you Jess for this achievement, bet you were excited seeing the Horn come closer to you so you just keep up the good work and you truly are an inspiration to all of us on here,as I read your blogs each day and also the comments of everyone, you surely can feel the love they all have for you, and I think its wonderful what your doing , fullfilling your dream, and you will!, you have come so far, so now for rest of your journey .. stay well, warm and safe Jess, :God be with you" Rainee NSW.
Wham! Your two videos are magnificent and scrumptious! The magic of land appearing in the distance, while you could believe the while planet had been flooded... The dark head of the Horn (I noticed he had taken his hat off for you)... And your emotions, sparkling from your eyes and your voice...Sure you were thrilled, and right to be. We shall never have enough gratefulness for sharing so kindly and gracefully your unique adventure with us, the landlocked bunch. Big hugs to your faithful fluffy crew, and may I suggest you should double their rum ration, to celebrate! Captain Jesse, you are getting above words. I feel disgustingly privileged. My only consolation is that we are many like this!

HAWKEYE

Dear Jessica,
What an achievement, you fantastic Aussie girl!!
Good on you Jessica.

pOtedHello Captain Jessica,
I can remember the start of World War 2 (yes I am 2years older than Michael)
I can remember the end of WW2.
I saw the first Sputnik cross our skies.
I watched man take the first step onto the moon
Since then I have seen and experienced a lot of wonderful things BUT
Today was the most wonderful and satisfying experience when I turned on my computer and read THE NEWS. Jesse had rounded the Horn
Congratulations, brave girl, stick with it, it's all downhill from here.

Hi Jessica
I have just looked at the two videos – JW sees Land! and JW rounds the Horn - and seen what the sea condition was like, how it sounded inside and outside the cabin of Ella’s Pink Lady and how extremely excited you sound, especially in the video of rounding the Cape.
Thank You.

great stuff,we are happy that all is o.k.and you are having a great time, love josephine and koby kiss and hug.

Well well Jess,
It's been such a long day for me at work. 12hr shift & all I wanted to do was come home & read the blogs.
I think the highlight for me though is seeing that "faraway dreamy look" in your eyes in that gorgeous photo of you. I see satisfaction & a little bit of disbelief at your accomplishment, but you did it.
Well done little one, now you can have some chocolate! xxoo

Sorry my congratulations have been slow getting to you but the post I did this morning Thurs 14th 8.18am hasn't made it onto the site.
I think your shore crew has just been smothered with well wishers trying to post and must be getting less sleep than you trying to keep up with your fan mail.
The site was so busy this morning it was hard to get the page to open and the website may have even crashed for a while because the posts from 2.14am 14th until
8.41am 14th haven't appeared on the site in the comment section of your Wed 13th post "Jessica rounds Cape Horn!".
Following is the post I made and I'd like you to see it because I have news about your mentor Don McIntyre talking about you on TV's Today Show this morning.
8.18am post
I just want to give you a quick congratulations on achieving the biggest challenge.

Good on ya Jess. Another nautical milestone down, more to come.
Fantastic achievement Jessica. We are all so proud of you. Stay safe, Helen and Bill
Hi Jesse,
You have passed the major test - the Mt Everest of sailing.
Bob

I hope you celebrated with lots of well-deserved chocolate!

Enjoy the Atlantic!!

CONGRATULATIONS JESS & TEAM!!
Absolutely beautiful. You're amazing!
THANK YOU for the great pics, Captain Jesse!
Jesse, you DID it!!! I can't stop smiling when I think of what you've done! You'll always remember this!!
jess you are amazing ..

Jesse,
You have just made Maritime History and joined the ranks of the brave few sailors as the youngest member of the "Cape Horners Club".
Ease the Sheets and relax after the Gale ahead

Hey RJ (post 487)...what a an amazing little poem, I thought you had written it then I realized it was Sara Vial...and what's really amazing it that its inscribed at a memorial at Cape Horn...
This kind of poetry I admire very much...in fact anything that gives me goose bumps I usually appreciate, like a good drop of old Port...it'll always do it!
It also happens when you get young brave souls out at sea risking there lives and rounding Cape Horn all at the same time....now who was that I wonder?

Great sailing, great writing, great photography and great humility .... you're amazing - and so much of your life still ahead! Best Wishes from Coolum!
Hey Jesse,
what an emotional rollercoaster ride you have given us.
Btw, keep up that infectious smile
...and that's an order..ok! he he

Stay safe,
Congratulations Jesse, I just viewed your videos, how special is that !! Wow !!

Fantastic what you did so far, the way you do it and your spirit and endurance! Thank you for your videos, gives really good impression what you are in. Felt like being on board with you surfing along. Got a little kind of home sick not being sailing. So I have to go sailing as soon as possible.
Thank You!

Congratulations Jess, Glad to see you're going strong!!!
Wow Jessica,
Just saw your new Cape Horn videos and there was also a feature story on Sydney channel ten about you and Ella's Pink Lady rounding of Cape Horn.
Cape Horn looks pretty spooky to me with those dark low clouds and 40 knot winds and that gloomy silvery grey ocean.
Just as well some Albatrosses were still brave enough to fly in those conditions.
Visibility does not look too good to me
in your pictures,so I wonder how your Mum and Dad went.Maybe it was safer to stay on shore, because 40 knots is a pretty bumpy ride in a small aircraft.
Wow,I can't believe it happened already,
you rounded the Cape Horn, you must be so proud of yourself.
Did you treat yourself to some special chocolate, put on some music and have a
little celebration dance ?
Or is Ella's Pink Lady keeping you too
busy for all that in those icy southern
waters ?
Thanks for your great Cape Horn pictures and videos Jesse, you are just such an amazing girl.I like that Picture of you very much it tells the story of a true champion.

the pics, the video, great stuff!

You are alone on your boat, Jessica, but today I think that you're the most loved person on the planet.
Fair winds,

I can't imagine the excitement you feel, but I imagine you will have somewhat of a let down after getting past the Horn. Blessings on you and I hope you will be able to fix the heater, I am worried about you getting cold. Am praying for your safety and for your spirits to be up.
God bless you Jessica.
Your a superstar jess. All the best.

Hi Jess,
Did the seas give you enough time to have a rest last night?

How's that my word verification is "paJessa"....

Cape Horn...Cabo de Hornos (in Spanish)...the very end of the World...ever since I remember these words resounded deeply in my soul...now you have given it a truly unique dimension, you have made this legend a little closer to me...I will go there someday.

Jessica Watson and her Pink Lady,
working tandomly as a team,
on their quest to conquer wild seas and vast oceans,
they are living their glorious dream.
Some days are windy and chilly,
some days are sunny and easy.
Some days are misty and frosty,
some days are blissful and perfect.
But rounding Cape Horn,
and knowing you're on your way,
is just like the little pieces of sunshine,
that we all need on tough days.
Hi Jessica,
In one or two previous comments I wrote, many blogs ago, I used the phrase "STEELY DETERMINATION" in describing your dealing with the challenges that were forthcoming in your voyage.
I am so proud of you.
Safe sailing and Godspeed.
