Jesse, just posted on the blog Andrew left and then found you there. I am so happy for you Jesse. Thanks for the pictures. See what you mean about feeling bit bulky in all the wet weather gear, regardless you're looking fantastic. I just love to see that smile on your face. Yes it is exciting to see the cape in your pictures and it does look almost mythical, but as wonderful as they are I do so love the picture of that amazing girl with her amazing smile and courage! Good Winds, Safe Sailing, Jesse, jo
HOWDY & THANK YOU for the pictures, Jesse! So real-feeling to see the conditions, and most thoughtful of you to share them with us! It has been incredible to share this journey with you to date, and tonight the candle is lit, the prayers have been said and we wish you and yours all you pray for... Be safe, get some rest and keep the wind to your back. Love and prayers, Kim & Bill, Wyoming, USA
Wow! How amazing! Praying for your continued safety and God's amazing creations you are showing along the way. Stay safe and get some rest! Good luck on the rest of your voyage!! :)
Boy, that last picture is GREAT!!! You certainly are the happy sailor :) Put that one in a picture frame for your wall at home/ You have the far look in your eyes :)
Been there, and it looked just like the photos. Big difference - we had 6000 tonnes of steel under us,plus a highly trained crew to guide our passage. Well done, and high fives for the rest of the adventure.
Wowwwww... Jess, YOU ROCK..... Amazing achievement.... An inspiration to all... (although I don't comment everyday, but I read and follow you everyday)...
Congratulations Jessica, rounding Cape Horn is truly amazing, thanks for the pictures they are great. I have followed your journey from the beginning on a daily basis. I’m a 67 year old great grandpa to 1 and grandpa to 5 more from Milwaukee, WI. Jessica you have taught us all so much and have inspired us with your courage and abilities. Sail on little one.
I think any words would fail to encompass what you've achieved. But taking a leaf out of your book - I'll try anyway - inspirational, astounding .. and humbling. This moment will never pass from your life, I'm sure. Nor should it. Thank you for sharing this adventure. Have I said 'inspirational'? I want to say it again. Bleedin' marvel you are. Sail on, crazy bright shining thing!! Mike Wollongong
Hi Jesse, thanks for the pics you posted, looks like the winds have certainly picked up as we knew they would. You look great as you always do, it must be such a mixture of emotions for you especially relief right about now. The Cape does look quite mystical in the distance. I hope you are not too cold but I can see you are well covered as I'm sure the mist isn't all that pleasant. I hope you have some yummy goodies to celebrate today and lots of warm drinks!! Just don't let 'the crew' get too rowdy LOL :) Thanks again for the great pictures as it makes it all the more real for us armchair sailors.. and thanks for taking us along for the ride! Enjoy the journey. Take care 'til next time. Jo Sydney
Totally awesome Jess! The photos really show the Cape as one imagines it, eery and misty and windy! You are brilliant and the video shows you are still very calm and in control. Hope you can enjoy the rest of the journey even more now. LM
Hi Jessica Your Pictures of the Cape certainly tell the story. I hope you didn’t feel a little cheated by the misty conditions. Your picture of surfing at 40 knots shows clearly it must have been an exciting rounding and in that respect more like what you probably expected and even hoped for. You have to be proud of going round in those conditions. Yet again you have recreated the atmosphere of ‘your’ cape by describing it as looking mystical. A most appropriate description backed up by your photo. Again – Congratulations.
Please pass this note on to Julie and Roger, your parents. Hi Julie and Roger Please accept my congratulations to you for being brave enough and bold enough to permit and encourage your daughter to convert her dream into a reality. The last 24 hours have been, in Jessica’s words, ‘super exciting’ and I would expect those words would also describe your feelings. If I may say so, I think you can be extremely proud of her achievement and you too deserve some of the accolades. I hope your fly-over has been successful and that Jessica will be really encouraged by your presence and continue to have ‘the time of her life’. Tony L (Mt Martha VIC)
Thanks for the Pics Jess. Fanbloodytastic!!!!! Stay safe and keep hooked on. Oh and hope you at least got to talk to Mum and Dad. Tim and Rosie Caboolture
Farewell Sth Pacific, welcome Sth Atlantic. Only one more ocean to go. Congratulations on conquering the Everest of sailors Jess. As you head northeast toward Sth Africa at least the weather should get a bit warmer and you will look forward to your next "tick off" point; then it really is heading for home time. Living in Manly will attempt to get on North Head to see you enter Sydney Harbour and head for the finish line of your EPIC voyage. Congratulations on your achievements thus far and stay safe for the rest of your voyage, the sea can be a great friend but also a beast of an enemy. BRAVO ZULU!
You Rock!!! And so does the Cape! Fantastic! Exhilarating!
Thank you, Jess. I'm very happy for you, so happy that I'm eating a chocolate muffin with pink, raspberry frosting along with a glass of red wine!!!
I toast you and your accomplishments, Captain Watson, and wish you continued fun and joy surfing with Pink Lady.
Onto the Atlantic! Welcome to my world! (sort of)
Your photos are so beautiful, Jess, and I'm sure I'll be one of many, wondering, where is your HAT??!!! The air must have felt wonderful coursing through your hair, otherwise you would have been wearing a hat, right?
With gobs of love and continued courage as you sail on, Marvelous One.
I am, as ever, your gobsmacked and fotterwahd friend!
Hi Jessica, congratulations! How exciting for you and your team back home. You are travelling so wonderfully well and taking everything in your stride, it's such a pleasure to read your blog updates.
Congratulations Jessica! i have been following your journey since you left Sydney, and admire how you are following your dream. Keep the faith, and we from Manila, Philippines wish you all the best as you continue your sailing.
Hooray for the cape and for conqueror Jessica! Reeeaaally nice pictures and a sailor girl still smiling after all the rough riding in this bumpy seas!
Thanks for sharing the moment with us. I was watching those heavy "drake passage" videos on Youtube and got concerned by the harsh work sailors have to do out there.
After you've made it so far you'll reach out for the next challenges with great confidence. I wish you all the power and patience you need for fulfilling your dream!
congrats from canada . way to go and fulfill a monumental dream in every sailor and would be sailors. Wish more of your generation would be as enthusiastic and energetic to undertake a historical milestone in their lives. All the best for the balance of your journey. godspeed
Jessica - your face says it all! Happy, happy girl and you deserve to be. WOW, mission accomplished, well the first big one at least ... almost half way there!
I love reading all your faithful bloggers reports - they are such dear folk.
Great photos Jess! Congratulations again on this great achievement! You have done so well. Definitely time to catch your breath a bit before tackling your next hurdle. Way to go girl! Safe travels, smooth sailing from Lily in Hervey Bay, Queensland.
PS: Waves hello to the other Hervey Bay people following Jess!
Absolutely breathtaking pictures. I can almost feel that 40 knot wind and feel the spray. Although, a warm sunny day with glassy water would have been nice, you were able to feel what we all think of when dreaming of rounding the cape. Thanks for sharing the experience with all of us and again, congratulations on a huge accomplishment. You really have blown me away.....
Those photos are really awesome, beyond words, I love the one with the Albatross in front of the Cape, what a shot.
You have a complete look of contentment with a quiet "I knew I could do it" look about you - always the quiet achiever - such a beautiful trait.
I know you could feel the excitement from all your blogger family yesterday, wasn't it amazing! I think we crashed your website, LOL.
I have a small quote re Cape Horn by the poet John Masefield from the 1800's thats very descripive -
"Cape Horn, that rumples beauty into wreck And crumples steel and smites the strong man dumb"
Very cool hey? What would those tough tall ship men think if they knew a 16 year old girl sailed around Cape Horn solo and unassisted! Not to mention your whole trip. That would certainly "Smite them dumb!" LOL
You just get better and better Jesse, now onto the Atlantic. I hope you are having clear weather for Mum and Dad's flyover.
I'm still in awe and stuck for the right words, Bluefin, Buderim, Queensland.
Thanks for the pics Jesse. You must have a zillion things on your mind so appreciate the effort. Hope the weather clears soon so that your parents can do another fly-over and you can actually see where you're going! Critics are a bit quiet lately aren't they? Wish I could be there in May to give 'em a real smug grin. Proud of you. Cheers, The Old Bloke
Well done Jess. A great effort. Glad that you are safe and sound. May the weather ease and with a some protection from the land enable you to get some sleep. Hopefully you can get some warmer weather. Or at least get that heater fixed and working.
When you wish upon a star Dreams will take you very far... You're a shining star no matter who you are... Shining bright to see, what you can truly be! (Earth Wind and Fire)
You made it sweetie You made it! I'm teary eyed and you did it!
The number of people who have done what you have done, non-stop, unassisted, solo around the world, rounding all the capes, is actually countable! Not to mention being the youngest to it. That can’t be said for very many things!
The pics are so nice. Did yo hear the cheering from around the world as you went by? :)
Again, congratulations Jesse on a day and an achievement you’ll never forget.
Jessica, You look so much at peace. Will you ever want to come back to a land life? I know you are very excited on the surface. I imagine underneath that is a very still, deep place within you where your wisdom resides. What a gift to the world you and your life are and will be.
Allow the wonder of your achievement to envelop you for a little while.
Congratulations! This must be one of your most special milestones ... what's the next thing to look forward to, once you're finished with the celebrations of rounding the Cape?
The Horn! You actually got to see it! I does look mystical. Or mist-ical? Your first pic shows your Witchard boom brake really well. Don't want to have that baby gybing over! I can't wait to see the video you must have taken sailing through this stuff. Your expression in the last pic is very interesting. You look as if you are having a mystical experience, but then again, you are!
Stay Safe! We are with you all the way back to the Heads! Richard W Maryland
Great pics & you looking ‘oh so cool’ & professional in all your gear! Once again congratulations on a remarkable feat – I am in awe of you! When you get the chance can you fill us in on the details? What was the weather like - any scary moments? Did you get to wave at your Mum & Dad or catch a glimpse of those Navy guys? I suspect they turned out as much to rescue you if need be as well as to salute you as you passed by! It wouldn’t do to lose you on their turf – they’d cop too much flak from your legion of fans ha ha! Will look forward to your next update – as always, thinking of you & wishing you well on your journey. Cheers, Maurie – Sydney, Down Under.
Hoorraaayyyyyyyyyyyy! You rock the Cape. And the world! Not only are you setting the world's record for youngest around the world solo sailor, you're setting other records, too. No one person has been able to make so many people cry so many times in so many places around the world. Sniff!! Sniff!! Sniff!
Hi Jessica Well done in making it to the Cape!! Have been following your blog since you left, but as yet havn't left you a note....but was so excited for you that you made it this far, that I just had to write and say "Congratulations!". Love reading your comments and seeing your photos. Look forward to more.... Bernadette
Hi Jess and many congrats on what you have accomplished to date. Keep up the good work and if you get a bit low at times just think of the welcome that awaits you on your return. Good Luck
Way to go Jessica....you rule!!! I really like the picture of Pink Ella surfing down the waves in 40 knots. I've been at the Toronto Boat Show and the word will spread about a tremendously courageous 16 year-old gal who has rounded the Cape! E I hope you can have a rest for a day or two!!
Congratulations Jessica! What a feat. I and my 11 year old daughter have been enjoying your adventure since before you left. Brava! Brian Santa Cruz, Ca.
I have to tell you I knew practically nothing about sailing before this but am fascinated by your blogs of your trip thus far. The cape photos sure show up just how huge the waves really are against the backdrop of the misty cape! Congratulations Jessica on your terrific achievement in rounding the cape & continued safe sailing.
What can I say? An amazing and beautiful experience for you. Your photo tells it all - you look amazing and beautiful as you sail around your major milestone.
Congrats to you Jessica. Well done on what you have achieved so far on your journey. may the winds fill your sails and the tides be small. Enjoy every moment out there, and you will never forget this for the rest of your life. be safe, and return home to your family. Godspeed! From THE BOYLE CLAN. Woonona, NSW. AUSTRALIA.
I think the photo of you looking quietly pleased with your effort is the best photo I have seen of you so far and there have been so many good ones. Your expression says so much. Its a classic for sure.
Well done Jess! The photos look sensational. Although I have not written in the past I have been reading your blogs regularly and enjoy them very much. Keep up the good work. We are all behind you. Take care
Jesse, OMG! Congratulations and two thumbs up!! Your pictures make me teary eyed, and full of pride for you! Your portrait is the best! We see a different young woman here. We see a confident, worldly mariner of the high seas. Continued success to the next cape and beyond!
Yahoo Jess, the whole of Aussie is keeping an eye on you and wishing you the safest of sailing (along with a bit of exhiliration every now and then to keep you on you toes). Sydney beckons :)
What more can one say: Congratulations - absolutely fantastic! I hope the next leg of your wonderful adventure to South Africa will be even better than the last ( just a few more animal friends visiting along the way ).
CONGRATS girl!, a milestone on your world round about, no doubt. You still with the heater out of order?
Other, did you see any ship from Chile's or Argentina's navies?
If you happen to see Dilip, sort of in the neighborhood, you see, please say Hi! Sure hope he can take good care of his boat's problesh in Las Malvinas.
I think you might have got this one already, but, in case you didn't, here it is again!!!

Congratulations Jessica :-) You are so inspiring and I actually choked up a bit knowing you rounded the Cape successfully and safely!! This is my first time leaving a comment but I have been following your whole journey since day 1. Thinking of you daily and annoying my kids with regular updates on your progress. Cheers to you and your land based support crew. Brilliant work!
I am completely in awe of your accomplishments thus far and so thrilled for you and your family. Your picture today says it all! I was kibitzing a bridge game at Bridgebase Online when one of your fellow "proud" countrymen announced to 300+ kibs "Jessica Watson has just passed the cape." Kudos princess. Safe journey.
What an accomplishment, Jessica! Great photos, too! Hope you have a little down time to savour your achievement. All the best for the rest of your journey. Jan, Waitara, NZ
What a wonderful day (as we all agree)Achievement upon Achievement I perceive a sense of that achievement reflected in your pic; a quiet and steely glint in your eyes Jess. Beautiful to see and much deserved.Im glad you have a "little breeze"to speed you round the Cape,(why walk when you can run and running is a joy )
I too was concerned for you before you left us but you have convinced me you are the right Women for the task you have set yourself through your blogs and your steady determination to succeed in this adventure.
I too will be watching for your return to Sydney Harbour and will be there to honour you as you do truly deserve upon your return to home waters.

Congratulations seems so inadequate for such an incredible accomplishment for an amazing young girl!!! I loved the pictures...I'm grinning from ear to ear...I'm so very happy for you, Jesse. -Karyn, IN, USA
Jesse, I've been thinking about you all day and vicariously enjoying your huge victory.
Your expression says it all. I'm so glad for you (and your family and support team). I think most of us on the planet would do anything for a moment like that in our lives.
Eagerly awaiting details after you've had a rest, and come down off the celebratory chocolate high. ;)
I'm a year out from my own grand sail, and every milestone like this I just feel like I'm right there with you. The seas look fantastic, and it looks like you've generously reefed the sails for those crazy Southern Ocean winds. You don't even look unbearably cold!
I wish I was out there right now. I *am* in fact sitting on my boat though, so beneath our bottoms ripples the same sea.
Bloody fantastic Jessica! Well done, and wishing you a safe and speedy return from your "Everest". Keep your spirits up and you will be home before you know it. I look forward to welcoming you as you sail back into SEQ! Best Wishes DavidN Brisbane

Thank you for the photos. Looks a bit rough for me. Must be a gale storm! Is it the same one Dillip Donde went through?
I would be really seasick and scared to death right about now if I was out there. You are a brave young woman, and I so admire your courage and tenacity.
Jessica, Congratulations on your wonderful achievement. Anyone who has ventured on the high seas will know just what an incredible feat that you have achieved single-handedly. Watching your epic journey has been one of the highlights of my time of this planet and something I will treasure, the day to day reports you have been making and my wondering what tomorrow will bring for you and EPL have had my rapt attention since you left port.

Hi Jessica
Your Pictures of the Cape certainly tell the story.
Hi Julie and Roger
Please accept my congratulations to you for being brave enough and bold enough to permit and encourage your daughter to convert her dream into a reality.
Good on ya Jessica :)
I think those pics sum up everything about your achievement.
Looks as though it was a pretty wild and woolly ride around the Cape.
And I'm glad you did it in good style.
Cheers from the shores of a much calmer Lake Burley Griffin, in Canberra

Hooray for the cape and for conqueror Jessica! Reeeaaally nice pictures and a sailor girl still smiling after all the rough riding in this bumpy seas!
Thanks for sharing the moment with us. I was watching those heavy "drake passage" videos on Youtube and got concerned by the harsh work sailors have to do out there.
After you've made it so far you'll reach out for the next challenges with great confidence. I wish you all the power and patience you need for fulfilling your dream!

Jessica,
Absolutely breathtaking pictures.
Have fun, stay safe and happy sailing.

Wow Jesse!!!
I'm still in awe and stuck for the right words,

The number of people who have done what you have done, non-stop, unassisted, solo around the world, rounding all the capes, is actually countable! Not to mention being the youngest to it. That can’t be said for very many things!

Hello Jesse,

Hi there Jess!
I've been thinking about you all day and vicariously enjoying your huge victory.
Your expression says it all. I'm so glad for you (and your family and support team). I think most of us on the planet would do anything for a moment like that in our lives.
Eagerly awaiting details after you've had a rest, and come down off the celebratory chocolate high. ;)

I am SO happy for you! This is so exciting!
Godspeed!
Bloody fantastic Jessica! Well done, and wishing you a safe and speedy return from your "Everest". Keep your spirits up and you will be home before you know it.
I look forward to welcoming you as you sail back into SEQ! Best Wishes DavidN Brisbane
DEAR JESSE!
WONDERFUL PHOTOGRAPHS, THANK YOU SO, SO, MUCH!! WE'VE BEEN ANXIOUS TO SEE THEM!
HAVE BEEN GOING THROUGH WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS ALL DAY LONG . . . IT'S NOT ANY FUN TO BE OUT OF TOUCH WITH OUR ""FAMILY" . . . AND JUST BECAUSE YOU'VE COMPLETED THIS WONDERFUL ACCOMPLISHMENT, DOESN'T MEAN WE'RE ALL THROUGH SENDING YOU BLOGS, AND READING ALL THE ONES YOU'RE GETTING!
HERE'S SOMETHING TO MAKE YOU THRILLED, JESSICA. I "GOOGLED" YOUR NAME EARLIER TODAY AND IT SHOWED THAT THERE WER 7,730,000 PLACES WHERE YOUR NAME IS REFERRED TO! ISN'T THAT AMAZING?!! PRETTY GOOD FOR A 16-YEAR OLD! PROUD OF YOU!!!
OUR LOVE AND ADMIRATION IS STILL BEING SENT OUT TO YOU MANY TIMES A DAY!
THIS NEXT MESSAGE WAS SENT EARLIER, BUT I DON'T KNOW IF IT GOT RECEIVED DUE TO THE SERVER CRASHING!!!
A SPECIAL “THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!” TO ANDREW, YOUR BLOGMASTER, OR WHOMEVER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TIMELY MESSAGE LETTING US KNOW THAT JESSICA HAS SUCCESSFULLY ROUNDED CAPE HORN!
WE DO APPRECIATE YOU, ALL OF YOU, AND SEND OUR 'COLLECTIVE' THANKS FOR REALIZING THAT JESSICA'S 'FAMILY', ALL AROUND THE WORLD, HAVE BEEN WAITING TO HEAR THAT FANTASTIC NEWS!!!

And, another that might not have been received:
Well, Samurai (got the spelling right this time), you've done it again!!! What an amazing graphic you created to celebrate, and honor, Jesse's accomplishment this morning!
We are all so thrilled that she's finally done it!! Now we can relax
for a little! But, what an honor for you, to have your graphic a part
of that wonderful posting letting us, and the world, know about this
momentous occasion!!! But it is absolutely perfect . . . HOW DO YOU DO IT!!!!
You are so talented . . . multi-talented, really! Of course I also enjoyed your graphic picturing the "multi-lingual" (or at least bi-lingual) albatross group floating off EPL's bow, very clever!
Keep up this good stuff . . . we all appreciate it and are in awe of you and your imagination and your special creativity!!!
WE LOVE OUR JESSE, AND WILL CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR YOU SAFETY!
HOPE YOU CAN GET CAUGHT UP ON SOME SLEEP, AND WILL SOON FIND SOME MORE COMFORTABLE TEMPS! WISHING YOU SMOOTH SAILING!!!

Hi Jessica,
Following your voyage with awe!! You are one hell of a girl, go you good thing!!
Lots of tears happening over the world today Jesse, and you're the cause of them all! I'd love to measure the increase in the salt water level as a result! Congratulations!

Dear Jesse,
Congratulations on this milestone, I can assure you that everyone is very proud of you.
I remember clearly watching Sir Francis Chichester sail into Sydney Harbour in the early 1960's, and I look forward to greeting you later this year.
God Bless and take care,
Tony.
Well done Jess, you're an amazing girl! Several of my friends are addicted to your blog, including one who is a teacher who will be checking in with his class daily on your efforts once school starts. Looking forward to your safe return to Australia.

Well done Jessica, a great inspiration to us all. Keep it going, our thoughts are with you. Your courage is beyond belief. Will there be a book? If so can't wait. The Wise Family Nth Vic Aust.

Captain Jessica -
Thank you for the photos. Looks a bit rough for me. Must be a gale storm! Is it the same one Dillip Donde went through?
I would be really seasick and scared to death right about now if I was out there. You are a brave young woman, and I so admire your courage and tenacity.
Congratulations on your accomplishments!

Well done Jess knew you could prove all the knockers wrong. Keep safe and may the waves and winds bring you the rest of the way safe.

Jessica,
Congratulations on your wonderful achievement.
Well done again, and I am looking forward to a safe and successful completion of your circumnavigation.

Congratulations Jessica, well done. Hope you had a chance to see your parents flying over. What a wonderful achievement and sight to see. Hopefully things will be a little calmer for you and you can take in all that you have achieved so far. Loved the photos. Be safe and look forward to your next blog.

So exciting Jesse! Hope your parents could see ya through the fog!
Not sure if you or any of your team monitor the Sailing Anarchy website but you're on the front page nominated as Sailing Chick of the Week. Congrats.
Considering a lot of scuttlebutt in the forums early on the tide is changing in your favour. Well done.
Fair sailing
Way to go Jess!
