Hi, Jessica,

The tracker on your website indicates that you made a major turn north today -- from ENE to NNE, more or less. Is that just a one-day quirk, taking advantage of a wind, or have you started your run to the equator? If this is a new long-term course, make sure you miss American Samoa. I'm sure they'd be glad to see you, but you wouldn't be glad to see them.

The cupcakes yesterday looked like a lot of fun. I'm sure in your place I'd just settle for whatever was in the bags, and not try to cook when the kitchen is pitching and rolling underneath me. And I sure wouldn't have made decorative icing! I admire your determination not to let life get grim -- "hunker down for 8 months" -- and continue to have fun.

Thanks for the photos.

Hi Jessica,
Way to go lady, you are really making some progress. I hope the weather was good for you and the sailing was smooth. How are the leaks doing? I hope they are not of the serious type. It looks to me that you are about half way between Tonga and Samoa. The last time I saw the tracker you were just south of Tonga and now you are almost at Samoa. Good for you. I love that tracker. Take care and be safe, I noticed in some of your pictures that you have the harness on. (I worry) Patiently waiting for your next blog and pictures. Thank you.
May God be with you and watch over you and may the angels keep your sails full. I will keep you in my prayers.

Hi Jesse, keeping up with your blogs and I suppose you've heard all before, however, it can only be positive for you. Go you good girl, you're a breath of inspiration to all and more that read and follow your blog, there are so many of us following your passage that we await for the next blog with baited breath, some even chewing at their fingernails! This is the real deal you're sharing with us. And better than any soap you would find monday to friday on the "gogglebox"

Incidentally have you read the book and or watched video by Kay Cottee, "The First Lady" she was 34 at the time and here you are at less than half her age doing it, so here's little story I'd like to share with you. It's about the time I bought home Kay's video, (in those days) this day my wife was entertaining a number of her girlfriends at home. I entered with Kay's video and briefly told them what it was about, "just another video about sailing was the retort" Kay's story was soon to changed their minds and their opinions, to tears (of joy), at the time when Kay was sailing the Tasman, sailed into a roughie and was tossed off the boat and into the sea without ANY survival equipment! And boat sailing away! guess what, with the next wave she was dumped in what can only be described as in an unceremonious, unscathed fashion back aboard her boat, amazing hey the God of the sea was there with her.

May God of the sea be with you too Jesse. Can't wait for your book to come out in the meantime your blog will get us through.

Great pics! I was looking at Ella's Pink Lady in that big ocean in one of the pictures you posted, and thought about what it would be like out there in the middle of the ocean... just you and the elements. I got a good sense of how you could feel cramped if there was another boat in sight.

Thanks so much for doing this blog! It's fun to check in, having a little window into this grand dventure of yours.

The only other blog I read is of young friends (well, in their early 30's! Young is relative!) who have taken a year to travel around the world, on land though!

Keep thinking about those squid! Hope you like the poem, Jess!

Squid Aboard

A squid upon the dodger!!
A “nice big one” she said!
And little ones upon the deck!!
But why up here and dead?

Perhaps the pink attracts them
Or Jessica’s perfume
Perhaps they sought some refuge
From some foe who would consume

Perhaps a ride was in their mind
Or a dare to jump the boat
No I think the squid were surfers
Hanging ten till the waves just broke!

Jessica - WOW, what a
"girman" (my name for a girl-woman) cause you kinda are in-between just yet. Beverly here from Tasmania. I am so in awe of you. Cupcakes on the high seas - would have loved to watch you making them LOL. I can't even get out of bed yet to eat them, let alone make them. But you do keep giving me so much encouragement, thanks for that and God Bless you for being YOU! The pics are great as usual. Those cupcakes look so yummy I could almost save them, download them, print them, and eat them (ROFL).

Here in Bridgewater, Tassie we are having a fantastically beautiful day. Total blue sky, no clouds, was a bit warm "for me" today, I think it was 21C - I don't do heat, I could be comfy where you are. Tomorrow and Monday are supposed to be a bit hotter, so...I'll just surf the net and look for snow in the USA and Europe.

I'm originally from Illinois (central midwest USA, 5 hrs south of Chicago). They don't have snow there YET, but they do get a pretty good fall over the winter. Some places are already getting gobs of it - Colorado, which is skiing country, as well as Idaho. There, that's your geography lesson for the day since you opened the wrong "school work" bag. I was wondering how you were going to go about "that" aspect of your life. I'm SOOOOO glad you didn't just chuck it in and just do the sailing bit. You can sail forever but you still have to have an education. Especially with all the equipment you need, electronics change so fast. At 63 I gave up and just keep up with my computer, that's enough for me.

You were looking pretty good in the pic of yourself. I don't know if you can tell from the comments you get, but I think you probably have a gazillion "admirers" out there of the "male" persuasion. Some are becoming quite open in their affection for you. Just tell 'em you are too young and you have too much life to live. It is kinda cute that they all admire you so much that they are falling in "awe" with you. I think it is admiration that is keeping everybody clinging to your words in your blogs. I know I for one admire your courage, determination, fortitude, and will power to do what you want to do in this life of yours.

I'll sign off for now and go fix some supper. I think spaghetti bolognese tonight, pretty easy (heehee, how I cheat - Heinz frozen) how bad is that, but it is actually quite good. Never had powdered eggs before (even when I was in the Air Force) but I'll take your word for it that they are okay. Take care of yourself and please keep your safety harness on when you are walking around on deck, inside too. God knows how to swim and He could save you but don't tempt Him lol. I will be praying for you and I hope you enjoy more nights on the deck looking at the stars (which are really all your admirers looking down on you as well as God's Angels). God Bless - Beverly and Andrew Penney, Tassie

Hi Jess

I have to be honest with you Jess, I was a little worried last night when I went to bed before your blog came through. I even had trouble getting to sleep like a parent waiting for their teenager to check in. Was it just me? Then I realised I can't have sleepless nights for 8 months, I'm 50 now and need all the beauty sleep I can get. So I just want to say I am grateful for any blogs you find time to write and I will just have to deal with it. This is your journey and you should enjoy it as much as possible and write when you feel like it. I realise part of the beauty of your journey is not having to worry about days and nights and time like the rest of us. So now I have peace of mind again and won't despair if your blog isn't so regular. Enjoy your freedom out there, it must be a beautiful feeling.

Jess, Beverly in Tassie here again! I just thought of something I feel compelled to say to you.

I feel, as do a gazillion other people that you should write a book once you get home and are over all the radio/TV interviews etc. Are you keeping a journal about all your feelings, thoughts, expectations, disappointments, etc?

I know that everyone in the world and beyond keep saying to you - write this, how do you do this, take more pics, do this, do that, so many demands on you... But pics and a journal with all the above will basically write your book for you if you take one or two pics a day (not to post but to keep for future reference), plus write in your journal when you are aware of your different feelings.

I'm not a writer but I just felt like I needed to tell you that stuff, maybe God was prompting me to because He Himself may be leading you to write your book when you settle later. I know as a 16-y.o., even a mature one as yourself, you probably do not want to take anyone's advise on stuff, but don't think about it as advise from me, think of it as directions from God.

It will definitely be an awesome book with Him leading you in what to write. Think about the other Book He helped produce, The Bible! Definitely a best seller!!!

Take care my dear, keep your tether on and stay safe, and here are some cuddles for you from warm Tassie {{{HUGS}}} Beverly & Andrew Penney

I loved the magical sunsets and the spiritual feeling of being at one with nature. Good luck to you and good on you. You are a gutsy mature person and I wish you the safest of passages.
