All's Well and a Busy Day

Been a bit of a busy day and time got away from me so I'll keep today's update short. Just wanted to let you know that all's well. More than well really, as we've been getting along so nicely out here. Loving every moment!
The wind’s been sitting on about 15knots from the south east so Ella's Pink Lady is sitting on a close reach plodding along at a steady 6knots. After passing reasonably close to Minerva reef(below Tonga and Fiji) this morning, I've been spotting and passing quite a few yachts so that's kept me vigilante on deck. Other than that, I've been pouring over charts and forecasts again, chatting to a few people on the sat-phone and keeping up with chores and a little maintenance.

Proverbs 22:29 (The Message)
29 Observe people who are good at their work — skilled workers are always in demand and admired; they don't take a backseat to anyone.

Jessica, after reading your post I thought only of a very skilled and talented young lady doing what comes naturally to her, and doing it all well. I came across this verse in this particular version and thought I'd post it. It just seems to fit today's post. It does seem that you are in fact in great demand! I hope it is encouraging to you, and again, I am today praying for you, your health, your equipment, and the weather and seas. May you find something as today goes on to energize and encourage you mightily.

We've been offline for awhile and getting caught up again. Hope to find some of your video/skype interviews online tomorrow!! That would be exciting! Can't see them on the HD Ten channel news. Sigh...

At any rate, yay for the successful updates! You are really moving along. I love your new tracking map with pink boats! Heheh... That's a great touch there. OH and have fun with that school work bag! HA! My girls got a kick out of that one. You'll have to post us on your progress through that... I hope you aren't working on calligraphy or anything that requires a steady hand on that rocking ship! Hehe...

Take care!

Hi Jesse

Just got home from work doing a back to back shift. Fantastic to read your latest blog and find you are going along so well. Liked the new photos on your home page, guess we can thank your ground crew for those. Hope the schoolwork went ok, too bad about the oranges. Must be so nice out there on the ocean, especially while things are going aok. Keep up the good work, and hope you continue to enjoy yourself.

Hello again "Jessicaptain"

Inspirational Jessica - glad to see your team have put your "Approximate Track" on your blogg - but NOT your actual track - lots of us out here following you have a rough idea where you are when you say that you are south of Fiji or near Tonga - we DONT need to have your exact your coordinates - as we also know that even passing you an orange will ruin your magnificent RTW attempt. We are happy with approximates.

Also good to see that your minders are also removing unsavoury comments - where have all the doubters gone ?? - you are converting them to believers with your achievements - wonderful teacher !!

Keep your sails full and Gods Speed

Hi Jessica,
I Just came across the map in the "Voyage" section and that is great. When it was first mentioned I thought that I was going to have to navigate and calculate and do all sorts of figuring, but this is fantastic. This is more my speed. Glad to see you are making such good time. I also like to read what gustav haffner (pilot-navigator)has to say. He is very informative and explains your progress in a very simple manner. I have picked up quite a few tips from his blogs, Thank you Gustav.
There are a number of other bloggers that pass along good information to.
Keep up the good work Jessica, your doing a great job. Stay safe and alert, I’m anxious to hear from you again.
May God be with you and watch over you and may the angels keep your sails full. I will keep you in my prayers.

Hi Jessica. You seem to be makeing very good time. Keep it up in case the wind drops off in the doldrums. If I have you plotted correctly ( about 160nm SW of Tonga) I think you may be heading towards an area of rain. You can have a fresh water shower !

Jessicas circumnavigation of our planet Earth on the beautiful Ella's Pink Lady is turning into and absolute epic journey and great adventure for everyone.

There are People of all ages and from all walks of life, from all over the world sending messages and following the blog.

Sailors in the Navy and marines of various flags and nationalities, others who have been sailing the oceans for most of their lifes and at an age where other mere mortals would take off their wellingtons and retire, are inspired to keep on going because they never have lost their zest for life and thirst for adventure on the high seas.

It is amazing to be part of this great Journey.

What I find most amazing is how even the youngest children of 5 years, some even younger are so inspired by Jessica's journey, they want to write their own little messages to be part of all this.

All those young Kids and teenagers will soon be the planets future.
This promises to be a future filled with the spirit hope, love, beauty and adventure.

Hi Jessica, I'm just checking in on you to see how the last week's been. I notice that you write like there are others on your boat. You say "We are sailing to...". Are you doing that out of respect for your shore team? I'm just curious. It's fun to read about your safety system that you sleep in. Safety first!
Take care,
Lori, Washington

Hey Jesse,
As a mother of twin girls 6 days younger than you & also a daughter 16 months younger again, I find myself worrying about you on a daily basis. Each night I kiss my girls goodnight, I whisper "goodnight Jessica" to you. As with many who write to you, we are looking out for you always. We have adopted you as our own, and wish only the best for your future. We are proud of what you are doing and can't wait for you to be home. Don't worry about how long it takes, as long as you are safe and happy, and Ella is happy too!
Love and cuddles from one of your many "mums" xoxoxo
Happy sailing

Hi Jess
Sounds like you are really settling in to the everyday tasks and monotony of mid ocean cruising.
I would doubt you felt the 6.2 sub ocean earthquake yesterday arvo Sydney time at 24.124S 175.134W
There has been a bit of activity out that way of late.
My wife and I are off to Vanuatu in two weeks for a great week off.
I so hope to be out there in the not too distant future living my dream.
I so love the fact that you are living yours.
Good luck and fair winds
Tony

Hi Jessica,
As usual, a very nice description of your communication system. I enjoyed the funny story about the search for the cheese. It sounds like you could have been in your own kitchen at home and just hollered out to Mum, “hey where’s the cheese”. LOL Sorry to hear about the English homework. Didn’t even have any luck fishing. There are those kind of days, but it will get better. Yes, there’s always tomorrow. Glad to read that you made it past Minerva Reef. I read some nasty stories on other blogs about that reef.
Question: When I first saw the map the line indicated that you were between Fiji and Tonga and a little bit south. (Minerva Reef) Later when I looked at it it appeared that you were swinging south of Tonga and going around the east side of the Island. Did you change your route or is that just a latter entry?
I’m getting a little envious reading all these blogs where people are telling of their sailing stories. I look back and think, maybe that’s what I should have done, but I was a biker, and I loved the open road. I guess we all have our own thing. But with detailed coverage of your voyage I can sail with you, and I am enjoying it. Thank you.
Take care, be safe and stay alert and don’t forget to wear your harness.
May God be with you and watch over you and may the angels keep your sails full. I will keep you in my prayers.
Michael (74) from Kingwood, WV
