Thank You From Mum

Hi everyone. I know you are all anxious to hear from Jess, but she's a little pre-occupied on her first day, so just a quick post to let everyone know that the departure went well this morning, officially passing the start/finish line at Sydney Heads at 9.49am. On behalf of all of our family, I would like to sincerely thank all those wonderful people who came out on the Harbour this morning and down to the marina to wish Jess well. The positive messages of support from not only Australia, but all around the world, has just been overwhelming and we are most grateful. I am sure you will hear from Jess soon.

Who cares what anyone thinks, if we all based our decisions on what other people wanted us to do, we'd probably not achieve much! No matter whether you pass or fail in this adventure you will come out the end better for the experience. You are an inspiring young lady, so I wish you good luck and a safe trip (...with plenty of adventure!)

Hi jessica
You are one gutsy young lady, I have only limited yachting experience (18 months 43 Roberts sloop) and for you to do this is fantastic. Don't take any notice of all the negative comments and just go for it and have fun on your great adventure, keep safe and will be watching your web site every day.

That's Really good news julie. it's great to hear that your brave daughter managed to set sail without any problems. She'll be okay , Julie: Jessica is a Smart Girl. I can tell that she is just from reading her BLOG. I would have loved to have been there to wish her well, but was unable. I'll be tracking her Online with Live Ship Maps.

Wish her All The Best for me. I've been having trouble logging into my google Account, so am sending this ANONYMOUS ... I sent an earlier message the same way. I'll confirm that this and the earlier message came from me when I can manage to Login to my Google Account, so you'll know that someone Else didn't send them.

Tell her I said, "You CAN and WILL Do It Jessica Watson !!!" ...

from ...
.. "YOU CAN DO IT JESSICA WATSON"

Message For Julie,
Hi Jessica's Mum: I sent you a Comment recently as ANONYMOUS because I was having trouble Logging into my Google Account. Well I've resolved the problem, and as I said in the earlier Comment, I'm just confirming that I DID ACTUALLY Send the messages/Comments (as ANONYMOUS) to you and to Jesse, and that it wasn't somebody else sending fake Messages/Comments with My USERNAME ... (YOU CAN DO IT JESSICA WATSON). I hope you and Jessica don't mind me using Such A USERNAME incorporating Jessica's name: I thought that it would give her some extra encouragement ... (Not That She Really Needs It ...LOL... She's A Really Gutsy Girl). You All Must be Very Proud of her.

NM xx

A Poem for Jessica, I actually posted it to the wrong area first up I think. Anyway here's my ode.

Setting Out for Here

But a slip of lass there stood, a pink ship as her fort
Towering cliffs as stony gates, the first and final port
Sadness and elation, ran through this young blood’s veins
Both Mom and Dad so proud and strong, endured parental strains

The public were a spoken lot, for an incident occurred
Ella rubbed a moving ship, her paint got really burred
The media made a song and dance, not just about that scrape
More to let us all think hard, if this trip was just too great

To a sailor of the open sea, out beyond that land afar
It’s not just about the boat, but the heart of ole jack tar
Once there is foundation, of boat and crew combined
Then only God and Neptune, can determine just how kind

You may be just a girl, of sixteen years just gone
Just a slip that’s sailing hard, one making your own song
No matter how we felt, before those lines were cast
Australia’s now so proud of you, our prayers will hold you fast

So hold that helm and point that bow, fair winds we wish for you
Go write your place in history, a history now all new
And when that noise of howling seas, sounds dread upon your ears
Remember girl your country, now knows you have few peers

So take your heart and stand your ground, out there upon that sea
Few men could stand in your stead, a place where you are free
Yes young Jessica Watson, success you’ve already made
Let mighty Neptune be your guide, bring you home to your parade.

Of the millions of us Aussies, who watch you with an awe
I for one do understand, you are an Anzac to the core
Take your ship and head for home, through foul and friendly air
Most of all you’ve made us proud, just setting out for here.

Brumbyy

Jessica,

I am from the United States and am inspired and enthralled by your adventure and your blog. Thanks for the pictures.

Growing up in the State of Ohio, there is very little big water. I joined the U.S. Navy and sailed the sea in Nuclear Submarines.

I miss the sea... Your skills, adventure, and passion are a uniquely inspirational. I want you to succeed! Best Wishes!

Hi Jessica,
Congratulations on crossing the equator. I simply saw a bucket of champagne istead of sea water. Its great to keep alive the many traditions that are so full of meaing and some that are slowly fading away around us!
You are truly amazing. For those of us who sometimes say we dont have time to write a few lines - you are truly an inspiration. You are so gifted, you're writing is way out of this world! So alive and now.
Cheers!
