Thank You From Mum

Hi everyone. I know you are all anxious to hear from Jess, but she's a little pre-occupied on her first day, so just a quick post to let everyone know that the departure went well this morning, officially passing the start/finish line at Sydney Heads at 9.49am. On behalf of all of our family, I would like to sincerely thank all those wonderful people who came out on the Harbour this morning and down to the marina to wish Jess well. The positive messages of support from not only Australia, but all around the world, has just been overwhelming and we are most grateful. I am sure you will hear from Jess soon.

Hey Jessica: Just read about what you're doing... all I can say is wow! And that, coming from a novelist, is a big compliment. Although I don't live in Sydney anymore, I called it home for a few years, and your story made me feel both nostalgic and proud. Good Luck!

Hello Jessica,
You have left and are finally on your journey.
How very exciting!
When things are challenging, remember with every mile you travel you get closer to home!
That means you are already closer to home having left!!!!! :-))
But you probably won't have time to think, when action is required!!!!!! :-)
Great to read all the posts!
I know you will enjoy this marvellous experience so keep safe and fair winds,

Greetings and best wishes from Larchmont, New York, USA! Jessica, you're an inspiration to me. I'm 56 and just started sailing 2 summers ago. I bought a little Herreshoff 12 1/2 sailboat, and I took lessons all last summer. I'm thrilled and challenged just sailing around a large salt-water pond on Martha's Vineyard, so your 'round-the-world trip seems like a voyage to the moon in comparison. I'll be watching your blog with great interest, cheering you on the whole way. Courage, Jessica!

Hello Mum!
Thanks for the update! I have no idea how hard it must have been to watch Jessica sail off into the horizon, or how hard it will be over the many months being seperated from Jessica. But this morning my prayers go out to you and your family for strength, courage, peace and confidence that Jessica is prepared and able to accomplish such a goal. I admire you for having so much love for your daughter to not only allow Jessica to pursue her dream, but work along side of her the whole way. The love you have shown is an example the whole world can learn from.
May God comfort you and surround you and your family with the warmth of His loving arms.

Prayer from Angel Gabriel:

Dear Jess,
This Siham, an interior designer from the USA and mother of two.

I am originally from Morocco, the Land of Ibn Battuta, the famous world scholar and traveler.
(you probably know about him already)

I beleive sailing is not just a journey in the ocean, but one that takes you even deeper within your heart, soul, intellect and ultimate human capacities.

I always wanted to sail like you, but never had a boat. SO now I am sailing the world by plane :)

Please SMASH that record for me and for all of us who are amazed by this beautiful world and want to see it at large.

You are a role model to all the lost girls (and boys) in this world.

I wish I could have met you and wish you well before your departure, but I'll at least give you this Prayer from Angel Gabriel in case you need it:

Prayer of Angel Jibrail peace be upon him:

"O You Who Are The Light of the Heavens and the Earth,
O You Who Are the Beauty of the Heavens and the Earth,
O You Who Are the Support of the Heavens and the Earth,
O You Who Are the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth,
O You Who Are the Possessor of Majesty and Kindness.
O The One Who Hears the call of the callers,
O The One Who Helps the ones seeking help,
O The Last Resort of the seekers, and The One Who Frees the distressed,
and The Reliever of the sorrow-stricken,
and The Acceptor of the prayers of the afflicted,
and The Remover of afflictions, and The Greatest of the Merciful, and The One worshiped in all the worlds,
every need is presented to You,
O The Most Kind and The Most Merciful.
Ameen".

Sincerely with much love and admiration

Dear Jessica,
Never let them tell you that you are too young, too inexperienced, too naive. I am pleased with your bravery and continuous upright stride through adversary. As the world watches your bold journey there will be a generation that you will inspire. No matter the outcome remember that a journey that starts in the heart and is acted upon is by far the most fulfilling journey in itself.

"Higher than the mightiest waves,
Stronger than the fiercest winds,
God is greater than all of your problems."

Good luck Jessica!
