Any luck with her yet??
Are the seas calm enough that it will allow you to do any preventive maintenance yet? Or are you way ahead of me. LOL…..
I really enjoyed the friendly chat between yourself and your Mum. Sounded like you have a good relationship together. Like I’ve said before, each time I re-read or watch a video a second or third time, I notice something new and enjoyable.

gsimmons: Sorry to hear about the boater, did they ever find him/her?? Hope the foot heals OK. Sounds like some very narrow minded people. It’s to bad that you have to get some flak over your choice of entertainment. Bad mentality!!!!
Amazedbyou: Absolutely hilarious, I laughed myself simple. Unbelievable, thank you. That definitely went into the ‘Jokes’ file. LOL……
SaltyDog: nice explanation on the stand up waves. Yeah, I liked the one on the kangaroos in the street too. LOL………
Samurai, Samurai wherefore art thou, Samurai??????

Sorry it didn’t get warmer for you (I was trying) maybe pretty soon. Yes??
Take good care of yourself, eat, drink and be merry, and then try to sail straight. LOL…..
So proud of you Missy, keep up the good work. Chin up!!!!!!
Loads of love and hugs, your faithful friend, fan and follower.
May God be with you and watch over you and may the angels keep your sails full, and I, I will keep you in my prayers.
Michael (75) from Kingwood, WVhezakiah299https://www.blogger.com/profile/13831171696178539958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-433355938514487084.post-27869465280551597732010-01-19T13:24:07.841+10:002010-01-19T13:24:07.841+10:00What a legend Jessica. The nautical miles are now s...What a legend Jessica. The nautical miles are now shortening. I cannot believe how large your fan base has grown to. In the beginning it was much smaller and now it is three times larger. That is wonderful and it is so wonderful that the trip is going so well. Thank you for allowing me and all o us to be with you in this most incredible adventure. Milestones are great, but now the journey lies ahead. Keep your focus on your next goal nnd in what the ultimate outcome will be. You are a pioneer, an icon of will and power. As I continue on my journey through unknown waters of my own, I know that with each day, with each milestone, I am getting stronger everyday. I, too, am in the midst of places untread before for me. I so appreciate being alive and forging through to the next step. You're an inspiration for us all. Keep your joy, your peace, your strength and enthusiasm. Easy now - just throw a right hand turn and head to Australia! lol! Had a lengthy debate yesterday with my family about why people do what you do. Apart from the obvious reply - a la George Mallory the monutaineer who might have reached Everest peak in 1924 - "Because it's there", I guess there are really any number of answers; as many probably as there are people who try to do 'impossible' things. I got also to thinking about your parents - and what a wonderful gift to have such belief and trust in you. You are such an inspiration (that word - again!), and so are they. Back to my own family - I think I managed to get some message across that was a bit more than 'becuase it's there'. The fact that 10000kms from where you are, conversations like this are happening - caused by you - is not an insignificant thing. So, on top of all your achievements - met and still to come - take a bow for reminding us that the horizons we see are the ones we set ourselves. Keep sailing in safety to yours.
Mike
WollongongAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-433355938514487084.post-67381911368304992592010-01-19T11:31:39.394+10:002010-01-19T11:31:39.394+10:00oh, dear, the 'susan' person below me appe...oh, dear, the 'susan' person below me appears to have no sense! G’day. (I sure like saying that)...For Amazedbyou:

G’day. (I sure like saying that) You were wondering what Jess means when she says that the waves stand up a little. I won’t try to be too technical since I’m not qualified to be too technical. The long ocean swells are generally caused by weather conditions that are possibly thousands of miles away. When those ocean swells reach a stretch of water like Drakes Passage, the narrowness and shallowness of Drakes Passage can cause them become steeper, taller and closer together. They kind of get squeezed together. The wind and current will cause choppy waves or seas on top of those rolling swells. If you have currents moving in the opposite direction than the wind, it can cause those choppy wind waves to “stand up” even more or possibly break. At the mouth of a harbor, for instance, when you have the force of a strong ebb tide or possibly the current of a river meeting the ocean swells, waves can really stand up and at times be quite dangerous. That’s a very un-scientific explanation, but I hope that helps a bit.

And I had a good laugh over your questions and answers that people have about Australia, especially this one.

Q: Will I be able to see kangaroos in the street?
A: Depends how much you’ve been drinking.

I think I saw some kangaroos in my neighborhood this past weekend.
